A CROWNE Plaza hotel will be built as part of the Icon Complex in Hobart’s Liverpool St.
Hospitality giant the InterContinental Hotels Group has signed a management deal with Tasmania’s The Kalis Group, developer of the Liverpool St complex.
Should it be *approved, the 187-room Crowne Plaza Hobart, worth an estimated $45 million, is expected to be completed by about October 2017 along with retail development at the site, where Myer was *destroyed by fire in 2007.
Crowne Plaza is one of the *InterContinental brands.
“I think this is what Hobart needs,” said Kalis Group chief executive officer Alexia Kalis.
