Hi All,
Absolutely nothing new in my post, just feel I have to vent a little.
I have been a self funded WP member for the last 5 or so years. it hasn't always been easy to maintain and has often required a number of status runs and certainly opting for more expensive fares on a regular basis. I have reached LTG.
I can't argue that I haven't enjoyed some of the benefits of WP when they have actually worked like "priority" boring, additional availability of award flights, access to the F lounges and so on. I don't drink alcohol, have never had a massage and I suspect it doesn't cost a lot to Qantas for me to be a WP member. Not sure why I really said all that. I suppose I am not really taking full advantage of the benefits available to me and wondering if it is worthwhile to maintain.
I am about to book a couple of J flights to either London or Paris for late March 2014. The so called Early Bird sale fare is $8,165 return to London on QF 9 and QF 10. If I book this, I may have an opportunity to point upgrade to F subject to availability.
But I just can't get my head around the significant price differencial between Qantas and the other carriers. $7149 Singapore Airlines, $7117 Etihad, $6759 Qatar, $7974 Emirates, $7059 Cathay Pacific, $7768 Thai. I really don't know if I should finally cut the strings and try another airline and save at least $2K. Is it really worth the extra $$$?
One question, does anyone have any positive feedback on any of the agencies who may offer discounted BC tickets, rather than the fares available through the respective web sites.
Sorry, I know this is an old chestnut, just that it can be so frustrating sometimes.
Kind regards ninin
