Copa ConnectMiles

I had 5k which expired end of this week.

Any tips on what to do with these? Or easy ways to maintain validity?

I had 4,000 miles that also expire this week. I believe that Copa Miles expire only if your account is inactive for 2 years, so earning or redeeming at least one mile should do the trick.

The cheapest award flight is 6,000 miles (and only covers a one-way intra-Hawaii flight), so that won't work. I decided to donate 500 miles (the minimum amount) to charity - that should keep the other 3,500 miles alive for another 2 years.

The donation doesn't work. I tried it on both our accounts and the expiration date hasn't changed. I will wait until a few days before the final expiration date and if they aren't extended I will just donate all of them.

That's weird. I'm pretty sure the donation trick works with UA?
