Long story short. I am planning to visit SIN, KUL and CMB.

My flight to CMB from SIN on SQ leaves at 9am. I plan to fly from KUL to SIN on Air Asia at 6am. So that should allow me to arrive in Singapore at 7am.

Is 2 hours enough to leave the plane (@ terminal 1), clear immigration, collect my bags, move over to terminal 2, check-in, clear immigration and board my flight to CMB?

Slightly worried.

If on time there is plenty of time. Check in closes for the CMB flight at 8:20am (40 mins before departure) - so you have a good hour or so to get across to T2. It's more whether Air Asia will be on time or not that is the issue. I guess first flight out of the day helps and severe thunderstorms are less likely first thing in the morning .

Thanks Dajop, This trip is for January 2017. What's the likelihood of storms affecting the Malay peninsula during then? Is it monsoon season?

If Air Asia arrives terminal 1 and onward flight departs terminal 2 then you should be able to use one of the transfer counters to transfer luggage to onward flight and issue onward boarding pass.

No need to clear immigration and check in again.

Morning storms are very rare, but they do happen. Less likely to happen in January - which is one of the monsoon seasons - whilst rain is a possibility for that reason, severe thunderstorms are more likely at other times of the year in between monsoons. So chances of weather delay in the morning in January I would say are quite low, although never say never.

How can you collect checked luggage without clearing immigration first at SIN.

Show your luggage receipt to transfer desk and they manually transfer your luggage to onward flight.

Overnight connections get a little trickier where you spend the night in terminal and collect luggage in morning and clear immigration and checkin again.

Is this avail FOC to all and sundry irrespective of airline assuming within MCT?

So someone puts a new tag on the bags?

Available to all. Someone manually collects luggage and puts new luggage tags. You just need to go the correct transfer counter. I know 3K is transfer D and QF is transfer C and maybe even transfer D.

Best thing I learnt this year!

What about QF to MH?

Not an issue. MH uses transfer B from memory.

Usually one can work out the transfer counter from the departure gates. Think MH departs from B gates.

Do they apply the luggage fees of the receiving airline?

Have seen MH depart from F gates recently

I am a bit confused after reading this -

In Transit, Hotel, City Tour - Singapore Changi Airport
If you are travelling with a budget (low-cost) airline or you are travelling on two different airlines and your baggage is not checked through to your final destination
Please proceed to clear Arrival Immigration, collect your baggage (if any) and clear Customs before checking-in at the respective terminal for your connecting flight.

Passengers are reminded that valid travel documents e.g. Visa are required for immigration clearance to enter Singapore. This does not apply to Scoot Thru and Tiger Connect passengers.

Budget (low-cost) airlines that operates at Changi Airport include the following: Air Asia, Air India Express, Cebu Pacific Air, Firefly, Jetstar, Malindo Air, Lion Air, Scoot and Tigerair and Vietjet Air.

Not sure. My luggage has always been transferred across.

I am not sure if there will be a dedicated MH desk at transfer F.

Apparently transfer E in Terminal 2 looks after connecting pax to MH. Ive got to go past transfer E from Terminal 1 to F gates in Terminal 2.

As I will be travelling HLO, there will be no checked luggage to transfer and hopefully QF will give me a paper boarding pass before leaving OZ.

Apologies if I have my terminals mixed up.

If it's E gates that will be even better. Unfortunately lately the KUL flights have been leaving from the very end of the F gates

Yesterday and today saw three flights each day leaving from E gates . I was on 616 last night from a "near" F gate - F30- which incidentally took 11 mins to reach from the Qantas Lounge (no skytrain - but there was no one using the travellators that run between t1 & t2 to slow me down!
