I would like to sincerely "Thank" everyone who has responded to my quest for information about purchasing " Bundy" en-route to Canada from Brisbane via Auckland with Air New Zealand.. I have had a chuckle at some of the remarks and have also taken note of all the comments, which have been most helpful to me . so please know that I really do appreciate your patience..

However, I am deeply offended :mad::mad: is more the word.... when I opened up my reply on FF this morning I was greeted with this remark at the top of the page. (Quote );

I have been a member of this site now for a few years... and have posted only a few questions which the members have always responded with wonderful advice to an elderly lady especially on the Brisbane LAX route..... I may not have the opportunity to travel as much as many of the subscribers, but my love of Flying and Travel is one of the reasons that I enjoy reading what other people are doing and have learnt a great deal over the years...Being elderly I only ever get to travel every couple of years and always on the look out for cheaper air fares.. I've been a loyal Qantas FF for over 25 odd years, but I'm afraid Qantas has out priced themselves and their service is nowhere near as good as it used to be...hence my making a booking with Air new Zealand.. I have looked at this site and have requested an "Apology". 'from the Webmaster so it will be interesting to see if they read their responses...

Sincerely
Grandma's Wings "

You got that message because you were not logged into the community or had your cookies cleared, now who has been stealing cookies from Grandma??

Re: Grandma Needs advice Please.!!

As for the message you got when you opened your reply, it's only because perhaps you are not logged in.

Without logging in, the site can't tell if you are a member or a guest. Guests would normally get the message as posted.

Note also that unless you choose to have the site "remember" you (there is a specific option to check when you log in), each time you close your internet browser, you have to log in again the next time.

I'm not sure what kind of apology you are looking for because I don't see what's wrong. Discounted Qantas Club membership is just one of the offers for members who join AFF (and follow up with a Gold subscription).

Anat0l where on the site can I select " Remember me "..

I think the wording is inappropriate "Lurking in Geek Talk"..that's what I found offensive... I don't consider any of the members " Geeks"..I find the comments made both educational and very interesting at times.. I for one have learnt a great deal... however I can understand the site wanting to gain new Qantas Club members..I for one couldn't afford that.. so that doesn't faze me.. :):).. Air Canada's Maple Lounge only charge $62.00 CDN for a visit in VYR.. I guess it depends on how much one travels..

Grandma's Wings - Please check your email. I have emailed you a detailed explanation of why you received that message.

For others who receive that message:

If you are not logged in, the system has no way of knowing that you are a registered member, and assumes you are a guest. After a number of visits (as a guest), you will receive that message. The purpose of the message is to encourage guests to join up.

You can get rid of that message very easily - simply log in. Once you have logged-in, you can log out again (if you prefer). The "clock" is then reset, and you should only get that message again after many, many visits as a "guest".

If you aren't logged in, on the top of the page in the right hand corner is a space you can enter your username and password before clicking the login button.

Underneath the username should be a checkbox labelled "Remember me" or something like that. Click on this box to "tick" (or check) it before clicking the login button.

After this, as long as you don't clear out your browser cookies, you should remain logged into AFF for a very long time, even after you close your browser.

I think the wording is inappropriate "Lurking in Geek Talk"..that's what I found offensive... I don't consider any of the members " Geeks"

The comment doesn't imply that we are all geeks. All it says is the "slang" - so to speak - that describes users who constantly read forums without participating. This word is "lurking" and is common "speak" for internet forums worldwide.

Of course, you are a member who has participated before, but once again, without logging in, the site can't tell this so.

In any case, the site doesn't receive kick backs from Qantas for each new QC member it signs up through its corporate scheme, albeit the Gold subscription (which enables one to join the AFF QC corporate scheme) is used at least in part for upkeep.

Grandma's Wings,

You will find admin, all the moderators and most of the forum members are extremely approachable if you have any issues as everyone here is out to help each other. There is no purpose in being here otherwise. ;)
