Companion Membership Question

Does anybody know if the companion membership offer, if you have achieved it, expires when your Review Date passes. I received a call saying I could use the companion membership I just need to call the Platinum line to organise. Thinking about it, if my wife gets status for 12 months it makes sense to wait and organise her status upgrade just before her next flight, which will be after my review date which is in the next few days. Of course if this benefit is reset and the offer to give companion status is removed at my review date then I would want to do it straight away.

T&Cs state that the companion membership is for twelve months.

At the end of twelve months, their fate is determined by either (a) you reappointing them as your companion, assuming you're eligible to do so, or (b) the status credit balance in their account on their review date.

ie if you appoint someone companion gold and they have 810 SCs after twelve months, they'll become platinum in their own right. On the other hand if they only have 20SCs and you don't reappoint them your companion they will soft land to silver.

Thanks for that. I was actually referring to the offer to grant status not how long it lasts for. I am able to give it now but will that offer expire if my review date passes.

Oops. Well, as it happens, I was going to copy the relevant T&C as a follow up, but the preceding section covers your question perfectly. You have twelve months to appoint your companion:

13.22 A Platinum Member may nominate a Companion Gold Membership and a Companion Platinum Membership by calling the Velocity Frequent Flyer Membership Contact Centre at any time up until 12 months after the date you become entitled to redeem a Companion Gold Membership.
