Only flying JQ because of direct syd-hkt. Online checkin, hbo and keen to get through to FLounge. Both online checkin and screens say "checkin j" for the flight. After reaching web checkin at syd area j surly agent "no airline in the world lets you get your boarding pass more than 3 hours before flight. I should know i worked for qantas for 16 years." Wow she must have been not paying attention. Service desk happily printed boarding passes - so skip the "web check in" desk and the surly service.
 
The Qantas sydney ground staff have never been known for their friendliness. I guess at QF F and J they need to suck it up a bit... but when there over at JQ, the true colours can shine
 
Even though it doesn't seem to state it on their website, the last time I flew JQi out of Australia with HLO, I used a kiosk that scanned my passport and issued my boarding pass. So that meant zero interaction with any JQ staff.
 
Good to know, im looking at a week away alone next year some time (maybe as a status run)
