CI will offer x3 weekly TPE-MEL services with a tag onwards to CHC using A333's starting from 25OCT. Exciting news for MEL! This new route connects MEL back with TPE, a route last operate by BR over a decade now. CI will have full local traffic rights on the MEL-CHC v.v. sector.

I'm personally extremely happy about this route announcement! :D

China Airlines from 25OCT15 is expanding service to Australia and New Zealand, with the launch of Taipei Taoyuan – Melbourne – Christchurch route. This route will be served 3 times a week, on board Airbus A330-300 aircraft.

Always great to see a new intl airline but i wish it was BR rather than CI coming!!

Not going to complain (too much) about competition on the MEL-CHC route, but BR would have been better.

Excellent news! And hopefully some good fares MEL-CHC. Too often we seem to miss out down here with a variety of fifth freedoms going from SYD or other places to NZ.

Also would have preferred BR. Does anyone know how BR's BNE service goes? Full planes or a little too roomy for its own good?
