China Southern : Seat Reservation : Tips & Tricks

Well it seems that I have much to learn about navigating Seat Reservation for an upcoming booking. I'm stuck just trying to get into the booking. Anyone have tips or tricks for getting into a booking. This is the link that comes from the Seat Reservation menu.

I have tried the Order Number, the Ticket Number & Passport numbers (all form the emailed itin.)
I have tried name combinations including ALBATROSS/BUSHRANGER & BUSHRANGER/ALBATROSS

Any tips or tricks?

Probably too late but I have succeeded with online checkin by using the eticket number, without the sector number suffix and the name format SMITH/JOHN MR No spaces between the names and the solidus "/"
Online checkin from Australia seems to open at 2pm EST (noon China time) the day before the flight leaves Australia
The prize for being able to print out a boarding pass seems to be a short queue at the Online check in counter at the airport, so presumably not too many are successful at online check in.
I did find, however that if flying more than one sector that the seats actually on the boarding pass given at the check in counter may not be the same as the ones you thought you had selected. If one reenters the website you may even see that the seats have changed!

Mrs Albatross710 actually found the CZ flights and food good. BUT the transit facilty and experience in CAN was terrible.

We actually had to cut short our trip by 7 days. Without a charge or re-booking fee we changed the return CZ flight about flight with just a few days notice. That was gold.

CZ have from 19 May moved into a new T2 at CAN. Much improved terminal facilities compared to the old one. Plenty of seating shops and open areas to peruse while waiting for connecting flights.

Seat assignments the easy way:
Option 1
Call your local sales office or any in Europe, mine is located in Frankfurt.
The, actually very friendly, agent then selects the seats for you.
Afterwards they will send you an Email containing an offer to purchase these seat assignments.
I had 6 hours to decide. Of course I accepted and had to pay for those via wire transfer within a few hours.

Option 2
Your Sky Pearl Club number has been added and then you can select seats via the seat selection on their website. This only works if the ticked was purchased via their website.
If not, download the app and try that way.
I didn’t have to go the infamous “copy and Email passport etc.” route.

BTW. I’ll be sitting in their Premium Economy seats now, for a very, very decent price...
