Changing booking - help !

Hold a booking SYD-SIN-ZRH in F x 2 seats. I wanted to change it to SIN-ZRH only but they've told me they can't do it without cancelling ticket and there's no seats avail to rebook. Not sure if HUACA or if correct ..
