Change options for a VA booking ?

I've got a day return ADL-MEL-ADL booked for 2 people. Anyone with experience in changing these things. Do I have any or all of the following options:

1. Split the flights into 2 bookings. For change fee of $80 per person.
2. Cancel just the outbound flight? Cancel fee $100 per person.


Just I'm stuck on hold to waiting for the priority line to deal with a change to a Two41 booking. Figured you guys would be quicker.

You shouldn't have to pay anything to split the booking. I've done this many times on regular bookings and once on a 2-for-1. I guess having some status would help... [edit - which you do so shouldn't be an issue]

What you need to do thereafter may well incur a fee.

Further edit - given your OP was 20+ mins ago and the AFF Collective replied with all the speed of a slug on weed, what was the outcome?

My thinking on splitting the outbound and return flights was to then book a reward flight a day earlier and no show the original outbound flight. That was going to cost a lot less than the original change quote.

After 55 minutes on hold to the priority supervisor the outcome was changing (Saver lite to Saver) the outbound flight to a day earlier for a total of $105, after accounting for the Two41 matters. A big change from the original quote by the normal call centre of $308 per person (fare difference and change fee). To be fair that original quote was to a flexi fare. I just got a slightly later flight that had Savers.


However, I am still very interested in the answer about those options for future reference.
