Booked a trip to BNE in January last week, and chose the BNE - SYD flight mainly based on the aircraft that I would be travelling on. In this case, I chose a QF flight travelling on a 767-300 rather than the usual 737-800 or 737-400 which seem to fly the BNE - SYD route thesedays. When I checked the booking in my FF profile a couple of days later, it seems that the aircraft for the flight has been downgraded to a 737-800 and this is confirmed in the QF timetable.

I know that there is little I can do about it, but I'm just wondering whether this is a common occurrence and whether others have been affected by such actions from QF?

i dont know. However I was wanting to know what was the reason you chose this aircraft? Is there more room on it?

It's probably because QF are replacing their older aircraft with the newer type B738s & A332s. The B738 is a cheaper aircraft to run, but another thought is that QF has deemed this city pair over that period as not requiring the bigger aircraft or they've assigned the B763 to another route.

aircraft

If you were going for an upgrade on the 767..then call QF and cough about why you chose that flight etc.. 9/10 times they will change you over it without cost ..even ona red-e-deal!

Economy in 738 is much better than 767, newer and nicer all round.
Not to mention more reliable!

Hope this helps

Unless you're tall (the knee in the seat in front factor is pretty bad on a 738), or you're stuck in a middle seat (only 1 middle seat in a 767, 2 on a 737). Give me the "older" decor with more legroom anyday!
