I thought I would start up a conversation about the 'doom' that is about to hit A3 Gold
For me personally I use the status for access to the SQ lounge/s & priority baggage when redeeming my points on flights. Of course there is the odd regular flight here and there which actually earn points, depending on the length and miles to be earned it will change as to where I put the points.
My thoughts right now after getting a 'new' A3 card with expiry dating Nov 15 (which isn't so bad considering my current one is Dec 15) will be how to keep the 'dream' alive. I doubt I will want to 'throw' miles at A3 just to keep the status as it is quite a lot of miles that I doubt I will use. My main redeemed route is SQ to Asia which is about 17k a trip. From first glances at the program A3 needs about 45k? for the same trip, ouch.
Would it be possible to chain the A3 Gold to another program? Say TK, If they status matched me now it is for 2 years, so 2016? Their renewal requirements seem to be the same (25k) so doubtful I will put any points through them.
What does everybody else plan to do? Is there another *A program that will status match A3 for 2 years easily with less renewal miles requirements?
