I signed up last November for the 16,000 bonus points with $4,000 limit. I don't want to pay the $75 annual fee again so need to ring up to cancel. Any chance they might offer to waive the fee for next year or will they just cancel?

Yes there is a very good chance they will waive the annual fee.
I have rung them in the past and managed to get them to waive the annual fee.
I also got my son to do the same, with success.
Have you used the card frequently? This will help with their waiving of the fee.
Just ring and say you want to cancel the card, the reason being you dont want to pay the annual fee. They will usually transfer you to a more senior operator.

Certainly worth the call. Good luck

I just had my Earth Platinum Plus card fee reduced from $250 to $180. Not quite a waiver, but still a bit of a saving. $180 is pretty competitive for the features that come with the card.

Was on the Platinum card and asked to get the annual fee waived, declined. Cancelled on the spot.

What if I want the balance transfer special on the low fee card, the 1.9% for 12 months one. Would they be able to transfer me after on the phone or would i have to apply online separately and go through ID checks again and all the first time rigmarole?

Called today to cancel, annual fee waiver offered, accepted, small limit card (<$5k)so no brainier I think...

Not a great earner this card, but a handy card for a back-up card.... Points earning card for Zero annual fee is always good... Only use the Amex card, M/C never been used...Never will be used @ 0.5 pt per $...!

Standard Earth dual Amex / Mastercard....

Like I said, this card is only a back-up, low limit.....worth keeping for zero annual fee IMHO

Not worth paying for, but for free can still sit in my wallet.

I'm on 4k limit too so I might try that. Thanks for the tip, much appreciated!

Cancelled. Didn't even ask for a reason. Perhaps it was because they saw that I hadn't put any transactions through since June. THe guy was friendly though, he said the reason I was hold for so long (about 6min) was because there was an IT systems failure, and he actually wasn't the one to normally deal with closures. I went ahead and closed anyway because the fee was due tomorrow and I had other things to get on to with my schedule, and being overseas I couldn't call again later today within their business hours.
