Cancelling Business Award Flight

I might be in a position that I have to cancel an upcoming business class award flight. I've just read the terms and couldn't believe what I read. It states "Cancellations can be made up to 24 hours after your flight's scheduled departure time".

I find that amazing and just want some confirmation that it really is the case.

Yes this is the case. Flexibility is good with J or J redemption fares

You can cancel most flights anytime, although many do get cancelled at departure if its a no show, the important issue is what is refunded!

True, but the conditions look ok for that too:
"NO SHOW/LATE CANCELLATION": If you do not fly, and do not notify Virgin Australia within 24 hours after your flight's scheduled departure time, you will forfeit any fare paid and/or your Velocity Points (as application)....."

Just remember to read the fine print.

Unless it's changed recently, on Virgin once you've checked in you lose this ability and will forfeit the fare if you are a no show.

I will only check in once I'm 100% sure I'll make the flight.

Yep - main reason I always check in at the counter.

Same. And that's the advice I give to family and friends who fly on the cheap fares especially.
