I booked 3 of us BNE-LHR for travel in April. (J class 51,000 pts each) One person is quite ill and won't be able to travel. What happens if I cancel? Do I get taxes refunded? I heard points are not refunded - any other options? Any advice appreciated!

Qantas deducts 5000 points and gives you the rest back!

Sorry not much help

You wont get anything back but you can put the travel back up to a year:

  1. Once a Travel Award, Companion Travel Award and Upgrade Travel Award are issued it is considered used if not utilised for the flight reserved. Enrich Miles cannot be re-deposited nor can taxes, fees and surcharges paid be refunded.
. Fully unutilized award tickets - extension allowed for one year from the original date of issue (as per IATA rule).

Its a USD$60 fee.

Do you have travel insurance? Normally covers when your travelling companions are too ill to travel as well - or at least the good policies do.

Dale.

"One year from date of issue", so if you redeemed points in say Nov 13 for travel in Apr 14 then you only have until Nov 14 to start the trip or loose points and taxes ? Or do MH not issue ticket until much nearer date of travel??? That being so Jaydee13 has your ticket actually been issued? Sorry for so many questions but about to book my first Enrich award and just want to clarify the rules. SQ has always let me canc up to 24 hours with no penalty

Thanks for asking the question I was about to ask
cheers Danger UXB

Travel insurance or delay the flight. Hope they get well soon, if at all possible.

Travel insurance is a great option. In my case (Westpac card insurance) they valued my (SQ) redemption flight at full retail and I pocketed the cash, letting the points slide.
