Hi All

I remember reading that a couple of posters were able to upgrade their JASA flights to F by paying a small cash component. Can anybody confirm this and explain how it is done?

Thanks in advance

Joe

Almost a year ago I called the premium desk to upgrade a JASA (MEL-LHR) using points. I was incorrectly told that this was not possible, however I was told that I could pay $1000 to upgrade. (In the end I, unwisely, used points.)

Using the change flights functionality its often possible.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

The post that I read said that it was only a couple of hundred dollars to upgrade JASA to F for a flight from Australia to England???

I doubt that would normally be possible. I'd definitely take that deal!

I have done this before last Dec. Trick is you need to have P availability for booking.
So, you book your JASA (can be any random date) then you click change my flight in manage my booking. Find the relevant P flight and I think the system gives you the option of changing the JASA to FASA by topping up the difference in cash instead of points.

Hi Ermen

Can you tell me what your flight details were and how much it cost please.

Thanks

That is very generous of Qantas to offer cheap upgrades to First Class. Any chance of similar deal to get out of economy?

It cost ~A$300 from memory in lieu of 30K points (60K for J, 90K for F one way HKG to SYD). Note that need P inventory (i.e. an existing F award seat on the route you want) for this to work.

Doubt it - if you book a economy YASA and click "change your flight", you won't be able to pull up J or F inventory.

I did this for SIN-LHR, book a JASA and once ticketed, change flights to a day where P availabilty is or ASA at classic awards then upgrade.

Cost me 740 to upgrade 2 pax

Sent from my GT-I9100 using AustFreqFly
