Hi

On the Singapore website it alludes to Qantas being a partner, but there is no such mention on the Qantas website. I understand the partnership is between VA and Singapore.

A friend is booked on QF to Thailand later this year and wants to upgrade to J. She has a lot of QF points, so am wondering if there is some way of getting those points over to Kris?

Has anyone ever done this, as I don't think it is possible.

Thanks for the help!

Qantas and Singapore Airlines are not partners, and I don't think they ever have been. Qantas points cannot be transferred to another program. Virgin and Singapore yes, but not Qantas.

If your friend is booked on Qantas and has a lot of Qantas points, then they can request an upgrade with points - no problem. As long as the flight is QF operated & marketed, and the fare is upgradable (i.e. not a sale fare). I'm not sure how KrisFlyer comes into the equation here.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Definitely not possible.

The partnership you're referring to is an interline agreement which basically says that the two airlines are able to transfer your bags between the airlines if on the same ticket.

Echoing others' reply, this is one of a few occasions where QF points are 'valuable' applying for an upgrade using points subject to:

A) Fare is upgradable

B) Your friend's position in the queue is not taken up by higher-status pax

C) J seats are available to be upgraded

It does no harm to put in an upgrade request as it can be cancelled at any time (if your friend wishes to have Hoyts or Water World tickets ...). BTW, time in the queue is not as important as FF status AFAIK.

But.... to answer your OP, QF & SQ have no alliance partnership so points are not transferable. Period.

Actually it is the interline agreement that allows the single ticket to be issued in the first place. Without the interline agreement, no single ticket. The baggage through check facility is part of that agreement

Well yes. I was trying to keep it simple.

If she is booked on QF to Thailand why are you asking about Krisfyler and SQ?

Was you intent to cancel the QF booking and book on SQ (Including asa *A on Thai) ?
