Does anyone know if Qantas can now issue MH boarding passes (now they are OneWorld) when checking in at a Qantas domestic terminal for a connecting domestic flight? Or is it like the old days where Qantas could check the bag through but you need to visit MH check-in at the international terminal? If the later how long before depature does MH check-in open in Sydney?

I can answer my own question. When I checked-in in Canberra Qantas gave me what could best be described as a bogus boarding pass. It had most of my details except seat allocation and ff number. With that card I could enter the airside area of the international terminal. Now in the Int Qantas lounge but have to see the MH lounge or gate desk to get real boarding pass and for them to enter my bags into the system. Sure beats sitting landslide waiting for the checkin to open which is what would have happened before.

PS I got the last connecting jet from Cbr so got to Syd some 5 hours before MH flight.

Based on my flights yesterday I would say yes, if checking in at the international airport.

I did SYD-BNE but the lounge couldn't give me my international baording apss as it was an exit row seat. Wen I got to BNE and checked in in the international airport I got my QF an BNE-SIN and my MH SIN-KUL boarding passes, with seat numbers. The check in person passed the comment it was the first time she had seen an MH boarding pass, she was surprised when I told her they were now part of Oneworld.

And based on todays flights MH can print the QF boarding pass as well. MH Kul-SIN and QF SIN-SYD all printed at checkin at KUL, surprised the chckin person when they both printed out as she didn't think they would.

Separate reservations?

QF can print MH boarding passes, even if it has been added to the reservation at check-in.
They have an IATCI (Inter Airline Through Check-in) agreement these days.

As I mentioned above (based on my experiance Tuesday this week), Qantas in Canberra where I checked in was able to produce a basic boarding pass that allowed me entry into the international terminal in Sydney with MH staff at the lounge entering my baggage details onto their system and issuing the propper boarding pass. Note though the boarding pass was printed at the gate as the lounge doesn't have a printer.

So looks like they are not fully integrated yet. Coming home next week I am flying to Sydney and overnighting so won't get to see how well it works in reverse.
