My daughter is a history lecturer at Notre Dame Uni in Fremantle. Her speciality is Spanish history and she is considering taking about half a dozen of her post-grad students part of the way on the Camino Trail in September. She has early plans to do a part of the beginning of the trail on the Pyrenees, then a train to Leon which apparently has some historical context, and to then finish with a walk from Sarria to Santiago de Compostela. All up she is looking at two weeks give or take. She is doing her research, but can I ask those who have walked all or part of the trail for any advice on what should be done, as well as what shouldn't be done. She has done similar trips to various parts of Spain with students, though these were more central and using buses, trains and mostly University accommodation. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks - Frank.

If you pm me with your daughters email , I will pass it on to my son who walked a chunk of the Camino ( in winter!!) a year back.

Have walked some sections in Spain when we were travelling independently on train & bus so she probably already has the knowledge I could pass on. There are a few photos & mentions in my Trip Reports

Here’s a link to a Camino related forum that I follow - Camino de Santiago

Your daughter should be able to get information on any question she has there.
Like any such forum, there will of course be a range of views on any topic...

The section from Saint Jean pied de port over the Pyrenees and on through Pamplona (and a few more days beyond) is a highlight.
If she has time, as well as Leon, take a day or 2 in Burgos.

I’d be happy to try to answer questions for her via pm / email

RB - thank you, I have copied the two most likely to her.

No problem, it’s one of my favourite topics.
Please also let her know that I’m currently in France walking the Le Puy Camino, so I might sometimes be a little slow in responding given the time zone differences & wifi / time availability.
