Hi - We have made a last minute decision to go to Cambodia at Easter - 4 pax. We have 350,000 Qantas points, not many Virgin - but would like to earn Velocity points - or can just pay cash. However we are cash-poor at moment (twisted logic - poor so decided needed to go on holiday to a 50th birthday!).

We have to be in Cambodia 20-25th at a villa near Kep, but are flexible before hand - not so much after as school starts the 28th 9but the poor darlings can miss a day).

Anyway - have never been to Cambodia, and not to Asia since kids, so rusty. What would be the best way to get there - either using those Qantas points or flying as cheaply as possible? I looked at a variety of flights, but even Air Asia doesn't come out that cheap once I added in the food/baggage, etc. And with many airlines, v random flights - i.e., land at 2am, connect at 5am - which will just be hard with the rug rats. Perplexed.

Happy for layovers in other Asian cities, and tourist advice for Cambodia.

Much appreciated!!

Thanks

Check out going QF while their international sale is on to SIN and use expedia.com.br to save hundreds of dollars. Can use Chrome browser to translate from Portugese.
There is a thread here that explains all the ways to maximise benefits on Brazil site - think it is something like Singapore for $410 return.

Then use itamatrix.com to find cheap and convenient flight to Cambodia. Also check out the cambodian new year or Water Festival is as it is about that time. there are lots of interesting things to do in Singapore too. JoyV

The sale excludes travel Apr2-27, ie Easter.

Must see. Angkor Wat is an amazing place to visit, can fly to Siem Reap. At the same time this thriving kingdom capital was built by hand, London was only one third the size. it is amazing how much of Ankor complex was built by volunteer labour and an amazing irrigation system that produced three rice crops a year and made the economy so wealthy. the scale of the temples, intricate carvings are amazing. kids should enjoy the stories these stone carving tell. Worth googling. JoyV

We went via BKK using QFF points with BA.....that's now long gone but you can get easy seats on BA to SIN via QFF. Just picked up two F seats SYD-SIN and the availability across all classes was fairly good.

Other than that I would take a look at carriers for cheap flights to BKK or SGN.
