Cairo trip

Have to fly from Sydney to Cairo in Feb. Would prefer to try to maximise OneWorld credits. Not too keen on flying Egypt Air (anyone have any experiences?)

Initial thoughts are SYD-HKG on CX and then try Emirates connecting through Dubai. But is there a better way?

Return leg will be to Mumbai and then back to HKG and up into China before back to Sydney.

Any experiences/tips generally on Cairo airport. Never been there

Royal Jordanian via BKK and AMM would seem easier if wanting OW.

Buy a return AUS-BKK-AMM-CAI vv with side trip BKK-BOM-HKG-BKK for the return requirements.

You can do this on OW but as a rule of thumb Africa and the Middle East are disastrous for OW.

Maybe look at doing this all as one-way fares.

So.......
SYD-MEL-BKK starclass on JetStar or SYD-BKK on QF
BKK-AMM-CAI-AMM-BOM on RJ
BOM/DEL - HKG - PVG/PEK-HKG on CX (or BLR-HKG-PVG/PEK-HKG on DragonAir - recommended)
HKG-BKK on RJ
BKK-MEL-SYD on Jetstar star class or BKK-SYD on QF

My other suggestion would be to look at the SQ option from SYD-SIN-DXB-CAI. Then hub out of SIN for the India/China sidetrips.

Yeah I canme to a similar conclusion after looking at RJ connections.

Another thought would be a OW Explorer via US which does all my stops in order and costs 5k. Certainly better for status credits but two legs on coughpy BA. Hmmm

Hi simon,

We are doing a similar trip from CNS-CAI in June. Flying CX CNS-HKG return and booked a business class fare with Royal Jordanian for just over $2k p/p HKG-CAI then CAI-AMM then AMM-DXB. Used points to fly DXB-HKG.

My suggestion to maximise OW credits would be to book a SYD-HKG-BOM return fare with CX then a BOM-AMM-CAI return fare with RJ.
