Today marks day one of my slow and painful death of my WP status. I spent two years there, it was awesome but it's going to come to an end. I was offered a role in a business unit which I couldn't refuse... Unfortunately the travel will only be dom Y though to my benefit it will only be 5 days a month of travel. My predecessor was struggling to get to SG with both her personal and work travel frequently moving between SG and PS over the years...

Thanks to what I've learn on this site I will be able to quickly give myself a boost to get to SG via AKL or NAN. I am ever grateful for the knowledge.

For all you w@nkers, there's one more spot for you in the flounge =) lucky you, I'm jealous already... :(

Incidentally this may also be the catalyst for my move over to Virgin, with enough points for 2 rtw J awards in the bank, I don't feel the need to earn any more points... Just need to work out if getting lounge access with DJ will be easier or not with just dom Y.

On a side note any internal auditors out there who wants a job that will give you at least 1800 sc's a year and good prospects for moving throughout the business after your stint there PM me.

Easy come, easy go?

Well not quite but if you really need Platinum status then you will find a way to keep it at minimal cost.

I have just switched over all my international flights away from Qantas and Oneworld to *Alliance awards but I do enough domestic flying where Platinum status comes in very handy so I will still try to maintain Platinum.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

I guess that's the thing, I don't need platinum, it's really nice to have but no i don't need it. Gold is fine to be honest. I should be able to maintain gold with one status run every year, either NAN or AKL. I need one week of a year anyway so yeah.

rofl, nice one...

What am I missing...

1200 to re-qualify WP

5 return trips per month on QF equals 100SC (based on SYD/MEL or BNE)

12 months = 1200SC...

OK, you may have to do an extra flight or 2 to take up holidays etc, but WP should be an easy keep...

hehe, at best the 5 days a month will be 2 trips.

Gumpy it will be my pleasure to guest you into the Flounge when our paths cross ;)
Good luck with the new job, I guess there is more to life than FLounging

That, along with a couple of HBA Status runs, you should be sweet :p:

I just got to WP this year by doing couple of HBA runs, as well as a couple of business flights around (and the Double SCs offer).

Can't wait to take my first flight as a WP :D only about a month away (going business CBR-MEL-PER-SYD-CBR)
