Hi everyone,
Sorry for the ignorance, but pretty new to using points. We currently have about 350,000 citi bank reward points that we can transfer to Krisflyer, but seem to only come up with waitlist on economy or business class seats for departing mid Dec 2013 return mid Jan 2014. We don't want to transfer points to Krisflyer based on waitlisted flights and are also concerned with the lowest points needed for saver flights are only good for 6 months. Any good advise? We need to travel Dec - Jan due to bringing our student daughter. We don't want to take her out of school.
Thanks!!

Savers are now good for 12 months.
Dec/Jan is peak travel, so it is always difficult to get 2 J Savers, let alone 3 (?).
SIN-FCO is only 2x a week on an old 772, with old spacebeds in J.
SIN-MXP is more frequent at 5x a week, on the newer 773ER, with new(er) J seats.
I found 2 J around the dates you're looking at.
That'd be my suggestion.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Check SIN to FRA with Krysflier and then FRA to FCO with a paid ticket with Alitalia or KLM.

Or for that matter .... Any SQ destination in Europe not necessarily FRA. If travelling in Y, LHR usually has lots of availability with 4x daily flights and good (inexpensive fares ) to the continent.

You can also consider doing two separate one way saver itineraries. You might fly into Europe to FCO. Then over your holiday fly/drive/rail and find yourself able to depart from another city. Thinking about my past few trips with SQ to Europe I have

Arrive LHR Departed AMS
Arrive ZRH Departed MXP
Arrive ZRH Departed ZRH
Arrive MIL Departed ZRH
Arrive LHR Departed CDG

So it is easier for me to pick and choose travels around cities which have good availability either inbound or outbound. As you search for flights you will see that particular destinations may be scarce inbound availability but plenty of outbound etc.

Having done many redemption for our family of 2 + 2 teenagers, I've also been prepared to settle for two J seats and 2 Y seats with it being a bonus if I get everyone into J.

Thanks Alby. That is something we're considering especially with train travel so easy in Europe.
