I have been trying to book two of the above SIN IST late April 2011 and can see only one seat available from April 29 (the oldest date I can see) back to April 1. I rang the customer service desk and was told I can offer you two seats on May 2 which I cant see. I lose my 15% online discount as well.

Any suggestions?

Can you waitlist for May 2? Sometimes waitlisting leads to instant confirmation, particularly if a phone agent can see the seats. Also play around with different ways of looking for seats (ie change dates, using either of the places on the screen where you can enter the dates), as that seems to be a random factor, using the date entry on the LHS of the screen sometimes brings up different availability to using the form on the RHS of the screen :!:

Say "no thank you" to the offer of the discount-less seats.
April 2011 is a long way off, and I am confident that your waitlist will clear by then.
You may need to waitlist a few times though.
Yes, sometimes waitlists can clear almost immediately.
Typically more saver availability appears closer to departure date.
BTW, do you have any status with SQ?

Remember that it doesn't cost anything to Waitlist and that they remain current for three days during which time they (hopefully) consider filling them.

SQ certainly do release more seats as they review the loads during the year. To me, with SQ having just 1 J saver award available on each flight looks like they have a default setting this far out. When they actually start analysis of the loads this will change.

Depending upon your personal travel plans and comfort levels the 15% might be a worthwhile price to pay to lock the plans away and move on to other activities.

Of course, here at AFF, we encourage you to finesse the perfect booking at the optimum points price which will possibly be closer to departure maybe 5-8 months before.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

I switsched to SQ about 2 years ago.

I have no status. In SQ those with status will also gazump those with no or lesser status in a queue.

In this time I have waitlisted dozens of J redemptions and have never had one clear.

Out of interest I have monitored flights and so far in my case while extra seats often come up very late (ie within the last 3 days) that is of no use to me as I have to organise leave etc as does my partner.

Random changes and availibity do occur often with no seeming rhyme or reason to them. I have been able to take advantge of this on occassion.

Surprised though that there are no flights with 2 J savers as to Europe 2 is the normal allocation, or at least it was. may mean that others have beaten you to it. Some Asinas destinations will have upto 4J allowed.

If you are basically fixed on your date of travel the exta 15% is not too higha price to pay for a confirmed booking.
