Browser inserting "tel" and breaking quotes

1536244[/URL]]The space bar problem seems to be ok now but as the poster above suggests, the problem might arise when quoting. But I have another problem and it's when I'm using my Android phone on the Chrome browser. Previously if I am logged it, I click on the arrow on the right hand side of a thread and it will bring me to the latest unread post for a particular thread. But in the past few months, it goes to the latest post, but then jumps back up to the very top of the last page. Does this happen to anyone else?

i am quoting this post in order to demonstrate the problem I am having. My quotes come out looking wierd. It is almost as though pointers the software is using internally to pick up the quoted text are being displayed. It used to work fine. Anyone else have this problem?

Seems to have started around 24th October. On an IPad and using Chrome.

I find that if you type a few words (as above), then do a carriage return (as here), the spacebar works fine.

The other alternative is to type something and select that line (if without spaces) and use the Remove Format button - and that will let you go back and put spaces in.

not having a problem with space bar - sorry maybe I shouldn't have piggy backed on this thread. When I use reply with quote I get rubbish in it. Have a look at what I quoted it has [URL=tel etc etc. should I start a new thread for this problem? Doesn't worry me, but JohnK felt I should get a fix for it.

Looks like your browser is interpreting the post number as a telephone number and then adding "tel" in front of it, breaking the quote in the process.

What phone do you use, what operating system, what browser etc...

Interesting neither of the quotes I have just done (one with Chrome and one with Safari) had the problem. It was happening consistently for 10 days and now seems to have vanished. That will make JohnK happy

two of my quotes worked fine - I quoted one of Samh004 and no weirdo stuff and I quoted one of mine - no issues. Posts #4 and #5. But then it came back again....

doing this one with safari. So it does seem a chrome issue, although doesn't quite explain why post #4 worked as that was done with chrome.

I don't think it is accurate to say the quote is broken - the quote is working fine, unlike when people say delete the final ] bracket. It just has extraneous junk in it.

Ok. Not quite broken but the quote has had it's dreams shattered.

For what it's worth Chrome on my Samsung looks broken recently. It blocks almost every wi-fi I try to connect. Don't like Chrome.

Doesn't Skype do that sort of thing? I had it "mark up" web pages with telephone numbers with "tel..." and link them to Skype so I could auto phone them from skype; very annoying.

nope - I wonder if I totally turn off my iPad and effectively reboot it might fix something. Otherwise I might complain to Master FM.

turned on and off and for good measure did a reset and to no avail.

I can replicate it on a PC with chrome, ie, firefox or edge .... assumption it is a IOS thing?
