Quick question, the MIL will have to fly back form Brisbane four weeks after a hip replacement. Can anyone tell me if there is a drop off point at the jetstar part of the domestic terminal? She has also had a knew replacement and as a result can't walk properly, Nana also has a permit for the parking. Last week she did the same flight and said it was a 15 min walk from the car park to the terminal, which didn't go well, ended up getting a ride on the lift to disembark the plane!

Thanks

There have been a lot of changes at BNE recently, but from what I recall of the current and final setup is as follows.

The closest lane to the terminal is for taxi pickups. The next lane out is for taxi drop offs. Going out further is a lane for limo services. Then finally you get to the public dropoff area near to where the train station is. Probably a 10 minute walk and I think you would have to go over the pedestrian bridge. Then beyond that it the coach/bus drop off area. Going out further is the parking building which now has the pickup area for general public.

There use to be two drop off zones. One close to the Qantas end and one close to Virgin. Now I believe it is all one long section. So for Jetstar would be best to drop off in the middle near the Skybridge.

There is a drop off (also pick up) area in the middle area for disabled travellers.
Cannot recall seeing any wheelchairs around this area though.
There are seats and I would think one of the security folk ought to be able to rustle a wheelchair up if needed.
As richie9x said, several wasted lanes making easy access impossible.
It is a good 150m to the terminal doors.

The parking info is out of date on that doc. This may sound odd but catching the bus from DFO might mean less walking!

That is the official BAC information as offered on the website. If that is wrong, it isn't my issue - and anyone relying on it can harass BAC legally.

Hi Tracey,

Disabled passengers and passengers with mobility limitations can use the Drop-Off Road for both dropping off and being picked up.

When you arrive at the Drop-Off Road, please park in one of the disabled parking bays and speak to the Kurbside Officer to inform them you are picking up a passenger with mobility limitations.

Parking here will entitle you to 30 minutes parking to leave your car and go to the terminal to assist the passenger.

For easy access take the lifts to and from the Drop-Off Road and Terminal to avoid stairs and travellators.

Information on this is available on our website. For more information or URL links please contact bac.chat@ bne.com .au or call 3406 3261.

To add to BNE airport comments I would hire a wheelchair for the day - I know the service is available at the airport by arranging with jetstar but when I had pre booked it for my mum I still had to run around looking for one on arrival. If you do hire - you still need to advise Jetstar of her condition and if you want her to board and disembark from airplane in an airplane wheelchair which I would advise they need time to arrange. On Mal's ref to the web site page 12 section 5.13 will give you further info. Only other advice allow extra time.
