Looks like Bose has just released their new in-ear noise cancelling headphones QC20 Bose noise cancelling headphones

Probably too soon for many to already have them but would be keen to hear their reviews if anyone has tried it. Perhaps finally some good noise cancelling that can be used for sleeping on the side.

By the way - the ear pads on my QC15s are falling apart (only had them for about 2.5 years) which is quite disappointing given you'd think for the price they would make it more durable. I called Bose Sydney for the cost of replacement ear pads and was quote AUD 65!! Which is about $30 more than from the Bose US website. What. a. rort. Oh well, I've stopped buying things in Australia anyway, so this shouldn't have been of any surprise to me.

Yep asugust the 1st in US...I wan them and I just got QC15's from US $299.....both in US where as $399 here....JB HIFI going to sell Bose....so maybe a SALE will help pick them up closer to US price!

I got to try a pair of these yesterday. They won't be available for sale for another 3 weeks, but some Bose stores have demo sets available now if you ask (not on display).

The are not really what I call in-ear devices. They are more like ear-bud in that they sit lightly in the ear rather than inserting deeply into the ear canal. This means that some people who find the real in-ear devices to be uncomfortable may not experience the same issues with the QC20 earphones. They rely on active noise cancelling technology for their performance rather than physical isolation.

I found them to be very comfortable for the few minutes I wore them. They were very easy to "install" and the NC technology was typical Bose quality. The biggest advantage for me (over QF15 etc) is the small nature of the case etc.

They will sell for US$299, the same as QF15, once they are available. If they were available when I bought my QF15s I would have thought very seriously about getting the QC20 instead.

Bought QC20s and am using them on current done5 - fantastic piece of gear - just as effective as QC15s but you can sleep with them on. Could not recommend them more highly.

Well got mine for $300 (http://www.australianfrequentflyer....ent/noise-cancelling-headphones-30690-18.html) after TRS....about to give them a trial at home and then off LAX-JFK return...let you know.
I have fairly new QC15's but the heat from the muffs....size, batteries...
Anyway looking at buying the QC20's tomorrow.....less space to storage....but how long will the LIFE span of lithium battery last?
I could not find the MYer card access via RAC
I rang JBHIFI and bang $350AU....Bose matched it.....I then will use 5% off JBHIFI Egift cards(paid via Debit card) to pay for them $332.50 then TRS(divide $350 by 11) at airport within 60 days and don't need box right?
Total $300.69AU

Or as going to the states do I try and buy and have delivered via EBAY to accom?
I found that my ebay account does not show those listed "buy now" over there but my Android ebay app shows them?
Chatted to EBAY and informed that because they dont ship to Australia wont show on PC but to ask seller to exempt shipping and will show as seller on PC. Probably looking at $283AU if I actually got delivered to US address that will be staying......not confident so got them here.

Update: I went down to collect them and as I pulled out Egiftcard 1x $100 and a 1x $250 asked if I could get them cheaper.....Candice comes back with I can do them for $345....did not ask for cash price over phone doh doh doh!
Probably had more as thinking I was paying credit card?
Anyways is this going to be an issue: The receipt has total $345 but the GST is $31.36?
Will this effect TRS return?

Now I need to move $5 left on card...but have thought an idea for work to get the cash in pocket.!

First impressions QC20's....the battery thing on the end is lighter than I thought....bout the weight of a pencil rubber and feels like rubber plastic not metal(will need to use rubber band to keep next to back of phone.
I have only put the default plugs in\over\places near ear and mmmmmm do I want them there for 4 hrs?
There is now a clip to hold to top and they have placed the "Noise cancel off\pause button up so high as it also can be used for voice calls.
The cord seems strong\durable and nice length...maybe longer the better(never have too much?)
I switched on and green light.
2 instruction books that a quite thick....one long narrow page is in english?
Charging for 2hrs as instructed.....an orange light blinks.
So lets see if the noise cancel battery lasts 3 years????

G'day, AFFers! I recently bought a set of the Bose QC20i NC headphones (for A$334 delivered from an eBay seller in VIC), and whilst I am very happy with the product, I was not so happy with the little soft case that comes with it. I have had the QC15s since launch as well, and something I liked about them was the hard case they are stored in I could also use to carry my other useful in-seat 'stuff' - an iPod, sleeping pills, pen for filling in immigration forms, headphone accessories (adaptors, batteries, etc.)... breath mints! I guess I do like that the new case is more compact, but it's a little too compact for what I like to carry with it, plus the soft nature of the case doesn't feel like it protects things enough.

I wondered if anyone has any ideas or experience with alternate [hard] cases or maybe something like a travel wallet that could handle the phones + all the afforementioned. I've got no budget on this - just after something that will last... and not be flourescent or floral! The included Bose QC20/20i soft case that would need to go inside it is about 135mm x 80mm x 35mm - or I guess I could leave the Bose case at home with the right wallet/case...

(p.s. note that in a rather cheap move by Bose, the QC20/20i headphones don't come with an airline IFE adaptor... so don't forget to transfer over or pick one up before heading off on your next flight!)

Cheers.

Go the camera case or GPS case at Dick Smith...have hard cases...I actually use for my Sunnies a clear plastic hard container from woolies\coles...$5 max!

Great idea with the GPS cases - they look to be about perfect for what I want! Thanks! Will go check some out in person for size / storage, etc.

Cheers.

For closure: I went out and picked a case up from DSE yesterday arvo... It's perfect for what I need, and just $19.XX. OfficeWorks also have HDD hard zip-up cases which are almost identical for ~$10, but I went there after DSE (for something else) and couldn't be bothered going back and returning the DSE one for a $9 saving at that point!

Cheers.

The Qc21s are currently $319.20 at myer - pretty good price (for aust.)

Gave mine a hammering in the last 4 weeks....good news is that when the battery runs out that a USB(seat display or laptop/tablet) will turn the noise cancelling back on while charging!
Big W have 10% off gift cards this weekend(OZ bargain)
So get a Myer card there or JBHIFI and price match ;)
Might stuff up the TRS though?

Paying with gift cards has no bearing on TRS

This is true... and charges it up for the next flight as well. Something else which I discovered whilst using the QC20i while plugged in to the in-seat USB on Emirates is that the volume is higher as well! Quite unusual, I thought. I tested fully charged vs. plugged in, and plugged in was probably 25% louder...

Cheers.

Bose is damn expensive because they spend money on marketing to prove how much they are perfect. The noise cancellation tech is still under development , these type of headphones compromise with sound quality, even some people complaint about weird sound while using this headphones.

I've had several nc headphones before, and sure they QC20s are not going to be as good as over the ear headphones, but considering their size, the quality is very very good, always comes with me on flights now.

I'm just hoping that I can pick up a set for some sort of discount, even $50 off.

Edit: Just saw the post above, about $319.20 at Myer. Probably finished by now.
