Border Force taking boarding passes

I flew domestic/international on QF 9/10 the last two Fridays MEL PER, PER MEL.
Tonight passing through the gate out of baggage collection the ABF officer was keeping the D boarding passes.
He reluctantly gave me the stub from mine when I asked for it but refused to give me my wife,s.
If you need to verify flying for points claims how do you do this without the boarding pass?

I always take a photo of my BP as soon as possible, usually before entry to lounge and definitely before boarding.

I thought BPs had been eliminated pretty much?

You can get the boarding pass on your device? Been so long since I've done D sticker travel.....

these disappear once the departure time passes unless you take a photo and make sure you have captured all the details.

Currently no electronic BP's for QF9/10 domestic flights, just because they have that 'D' sticker requirement.

I've got a QF BP in my iPhone Wallet from three months ago and a BA BP from 18 months ago.

On the Qantas app they disappear. Happened to husband Thursday night when flight to Adelaide was delayed. By the time he got to the gate the only flight showing was next weeks flight and he had to use his card.

How odd. But then there are several things I find odd about QF but they are usually in my favour, so I stay quiet.

The BP in the app does disappear but as soon as you check in you should save bp to wallet if you have an iphone. Partner has a new S10+ and he took a screen shot. Saying that, I've not ever been asked for a copy of BP for a missing flight. We had a couple of LATAM that didn't land and I just provided flight number. Do they really ask for bps?

Yes, I've previously been asked to provide BPs when claiming missing SCs and points.

Yes absolutely. Never discard a boarding pass until the points and/or status credits have posted to your account. And then shred, shred, shred to avoid identity theft.

Same thing happened to me as well, BP disappeared from the app after a delayed flight. Luckily I had a paper one as well. But doesn't exactly inspire me with confidence to do electronic only.

That is simply not going to happen. Technology is supposed to make things quicker and easier and all that does is put an extra step in the process. It has to cope with flight delays. The BP needs to stay until it’s been scanned at the checkin or it’s useless IT.

Yes, it’s a quirk when the flight is delayed. Happened to me months ago as well.

If using a digital BP, I always screenshot it. ...apart from the BP disappearing after departure, you never know when you will be in an internet dead spot!

The person in front of me once had taken a screenshot but he still had to show the App BP as he hadn’t captured every part of it.

We'll have to agree to disagree Pushka. To me it is easier to save my bp to my phone 'wallet' as soon as I olci and remove that horrible moment at the gate when I have no internet. If for whatever reason the bp changes I save the new one as well. I think tech is making it easier but then I'm biased because that's my life and we are early adopters of anything and everything made available to us. That extra step is no different to taking a paper bp out of my pocket and finding I've only got half of it because it's separated. I hate the waste of paper so an image on my phone and in the cloud is preferable (and safer).

That’s interesting. So what are you supposed to use when the app thinks you’ve departed and you haven’t and the BP goes pffft! For those who don’t have FF cards.
