Hope I am allowed to name a certain website here.

Would just like to know if any other members here have booked a hotel through the travelzoo related website - traveleasy[dot]com[dot]au ?

Just had a quick look through it before and there seems to be savings of $50-100 (per night!) on various hotels, including Starwood and Hilton's.
The prices are not listed as being 'on special', yet the are somewhat cheaper then booking through the hotel's website direct and other websites such as orbitz and expedia.

Are these prices too good to be true or have I struck gold for my upcoming holiday??
Prices listed on the website are "fully inclusive of taxes and charges".

As a novice when it comes to overseas travel, what pitfalls should I be looking out for with these 3rd party booking websites?

Cheers.

ads,

I have only used Travelzoo on one occasion and it was very good value.

I just tried two hotels (HI Melbourne Airport and HI on Flinders) as a comparison and one was much cheaper and one much dearer. Based upon my VERY limited comparison I would suggest that whilst it may be very good it is not always the case.

The website is run by a sole trader without a GST registration under the ABN - I find that to be strange given the turnover limits before a GST registration is mandatory.

I dont think it has anything to do with travelzoo at all.

Thanks for the replies.
I will correct myself when I say its related to travelzoo.
I was looking to do a hotel search while on the travelzoo website and was redirected to this 'partner' site.

I was looking at some New Jersey hotel and the Hilton Newark's website is charging $45AU per night more then what this traveleasy website is providing.

The Westin Jersey City Newport's website is quoting $200US per night on the dates that I am looking at, whereas traveleasy has the hotel priced at $153AU.

These are the best offers I have seen for 'big name' hotels on 3rd party websites.
Again my concern is that they are too good to be true.

I would tread really carefully, they dont seem to have a travel agents licence and are not a member of the TCF. Its a requirement of any travel agent in NSW to have a licence, yet this seller does not even seem to know what the postcode is for Sydney on the contact pages let alone publish their accreditation.

I noticed that too :(
Thanks for your caution. I'll keep reading.

just wanted to add we booked with travel easy for our trip to singapore, no problems at all, they had the best rate we could find anywhere on the webb, I too was a little worried as I had not heard of them before, but the Shangri la sinagpore was great :) and travel easy had the best rate. Joey (ps we travelled in March 2011)

Just wondering whether anyone has any recent experiences with them?

Check out AGODA too, apparently a big travel booking business, a number of our friends swear by them, their prices I have no idea.

interesting that the only positive response is from a one post wonder.

They do tweet a lot, and I seriously doubt the 1700 fbook friends

Check this out and see if you would ever book with them-

Traveleasy.com.au...Has anyone booked with them?? - coughet Message Board - TripAdvisor

That sure is a lot of self promotion.

LOL just read through the threads...hilarious, heaps of one posters.

To the OP book with the tried, true and trusted online booking agencies...there are good bargains to be found on the biggies (expedia, zuji, booking, etc etc) if you check often. And if the price is a few dollars either way, at least you have peace of mind that you have a reservation.

Now if we get another post here, from a one poster saying how fab that new site is, I'll just laugh.
