I'm looking at flying from LAX to BKK a bit over 12 months away, and was hoping to snag a F (well Suites) seat on LAX-NRT-SIN. The award table lists it as 107.5k miles from Zone 10 (west coast US) to Zone 1 (SIN), but also that many miles to Zones 2 and 3 as well, so was hoping that meant I could get SIN-BKK in SQ F for just the extra taxes.

Looking at the edge of flight availability, I could book a LAX-NRT-SIN seat in F, but if I try to extend it to BKK is says there are no flights. I assume that is because there is no F class on SIN-BKK, so it shows nothing rather than letting me choose a F seat LAX-NRT-SIN and J seat SIN-BKK for the F award cost. If I search for J from LAX to BKK it shows what I expect, but that way I don't get to experience F, and if I do separate LAX-SIN and SIN-BKK searches I can get it split F/J but then it costs an extra 20k miles.

Does anyone know if there's a way to book mixed F/J awards on SQ, when one leg doesn't (appear to) have F?

Call KF.....

Yeah, that's an option which would hopefully work. However because I wouldn't get the 15% discount for booking the award seats online, it would only save me ~850 miles over booking them separately. Probably worth it to ensure they are on the same ticket though, unless I decide I want to take advantage of it for a stopover.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

You will get the 15% sickout for booking mixed class redemptions over phone - anything that cannot be booked online will receive the 15% discount. If you are concerned just call and ask the first agent who answers your call.

did a similar thing recently
SYD-SIN F
SIN-BKK J

got charged the F rate inc. the 15% discount booking via the phone as unable to book online. They may try it on, but will back down very quickly when you remind them that you are unable to complete the booking online. I find the KF agents very helpful if you're prepared and feed them the flights etc.

Thanks, that's useful to know. I'm getting too used to airlines who charge you for everything they can :)
