Hi a,,

I booked a flight from the Thailand portal yesterday and upon receiving my email receipt it mentioned I needed to contact the Thai office to verify credit card details in person or the ticket would be cancelled. I did remember a note popping up when booking but I sort of ignored it. Anyway I rang them and they said they woudl hold the booking and I could do the credit card verification upon check in. I am concerned as when I rang QF in Sydney they said I had to get it personally verified in the Bangkok office. However when I rang the Bangkok ticket office they said it would be OK, they guaranteed it would be held for me to do it at check in at the service desk next to check in.

I hope this proves corect as the flight is basically sold out and I have booked F class. If I arrive and it is gone I will be not happy. I guess I have to trust them. The reason is I have no way to get to Bangkok office as I am down in Rayong and will head direct to airport.

Anyone done verification at airport in BKK previously upon check in, would be nice to know.

Have not had to verify a QF flight with my CC, although I have on several occasions taken longer than the 2 days to visit their office in BKK. My PA called and they were quite ok with it.

I have had to verify CX though - no problems there except they require the CC to be in the name of a person travelling. I had to split a flight between myself and my PA as I had a early meeting but they were fine - they had seen my CC and she flew the next day without any problems.

The office services several airlines, they are independent of Qantas, so can freewheel it if they want to; maybe give them a call a couple of days prior again, but I think you'll be ok.

I had no issues getting verification at airport. In fact when I booked they actually never took any money out of my CC. They took it out when I arrived there. In all it did take a while, about 20 but it was ok in the end and most of that was getting the eftpos machine to work, in the end it had to be manual. I woudl recommend this system is a pain in the a@#e. QF need to find a way to look after their known FF'ers so they do nto have to go through this, given I was flying F it was quite a hassle but the flight was excellent.

Interesting the variability of stories you get on this.

When we were looking at some ex-BKK bookings, my partner rang QF Premium and told that they couldn't verify in Aus, and really no way around it other than purchasing exhorbitant fares for tickets issued in Aus complete with phone service fee.

I rang SIN office, and said they could do credit card verification at the SIN office.

Go figure.

Nice to know that it can be done at BKK prior to departure though.
