Hi there,
I was wondering if anyone had any thoughts on any of these websites:
activehotels
booking (.com)
priceline-europe

I am looking at some european accomodation and have tried the usual sites. These 3 all come out $1000 cheaper than Expedia (who we have used before). However, I don't know if they are safe, legit or reliable. I have read some negative reviews of Priceline (U.S), but this is the european site. I don't thik you are actualy "bidding" on anything.
Thanks

Welcome to AFF Sharkmeister.

I have used Booking.com and did not have any issues.

Have yet to try Priceline as they do not accept Australian issued credit cards.

Used booking.com quite a few times and they have always been reliable. Be aware though that the rooms they sell are usually in the "discount" category and so, depending on the hotel might be lesser quality rooms than otherwise would be available.

You can use Priceline (well at least priceline.com) with an australian issued credit card. I have done this with no issues. You do have to "modify" your address a little to fit within the parameters of what is allowed on the priceline booking form.

There is a whole lot of info about how to go about this on biddingfortravel.com.

I just saved at least $50 a night on accommodation for LA over the pricing I could get anywhere else booking via priceline.

Cheers

After what happened to me with AA flight booking I will not be modifying address fields on any other websites....

Yes I saw that thread and can understand your reluctance.
I should point out that the only modification needed is to choose a state in the USA or Canada, all other details you put in the correct details and you put your country in the main area for the address.

Their terms and conditions do not state you have to reside in either of those countries its just the way the booking form is set out. According to the biddingfortravel website the address is only for contact purposes and is not used for anything else. As far as the credit card goes the issuing country does not seem to be a problem, at least it certainly hasn't been for me.
