Booked reward flights for my niece/partner to come to dd's 21st - name problem?

Hi I booked classic reward flights on 10/07 for my niece and her partner to come to my daughter's 21st this weekend. Unfortunately, I got partner's last name slightly wrong (Stephens instead of Stevens) and called the premium line the next morning (within 24 hours). I was advised that they would change the spelling and reissue the tickets but it might not happen until the next month (August). Checked on Monday 1 August and in my FF account the name is changed but the tickets have not been reissued yet. Called the premium line to check and they requested the change again. Now more than 48 hours later still no new tickets.

Given recent events I am worried that the slight name difference will cause problems. They are flying in on Saturday 2 hours before the party and home on Sunday. I would hate for them to miss my daughter's 21st. I will call again tomorrow but would also welcome any advice.
 
For a QF award issued on qantas services, nothing to worry about. If everything goes wrong, qantas just takes normal revenue seats and converts them into award seats and reissues the tickets.

Had this been for travel on qantas partner airlines it would be a different matter... there you need to make sure tickets are issued within 72 hours (or instantly for travel on Qatar airways).

yes well... in that case I would give them a call and say you'll hold on the line until you get the tickets through.

If they give you any push back just explain the travellers are leaving home soon for an overnight at a hotel before travel and need the tickets before they leave.

if this is domestic travel I don't see it as an issue anyway.. if international, definitely needs to be resolved. It's probably just stuck in the far (manual) queue. annoying
 
Thought I should report back. I was a bit worried about the pair getting to my daughter's 21st but everything went well (except niece's partner was severely airsick on the flights!)

On their flights home (via syd) he could only cope with one flight and qf agent was apparently very, very kind, professional and helpful and re-booked them (at no cost to me) to a later flight to Brisbane.

Somehow I don't think he will be going on any plane in the near future (of any kind).

I am impressed and relieved about QFs service. Thanks QF :)
