Hi,

I'm thinking of going to Buenos Aires on QF in June 2009.

Fares are currently quoting around $2000 AUD. I was wondering if anyone has any thoughts on whether it is best to book it now, or wait to see if any cheaper fares bob up, such as the QF 2 for 1 sale that happened late last year.

Thanks

I think that you would be very optimistic to expect another QF 2 for 1 Sale by June 09.

I tend to look at it this way (as i did woth our flights to US/Cuba/chile/Argentina this year):

1. How badly do i want/need to go on the dates available?
2. Can i afford the current price?
3. How upset will i be if i delay and then pay significantly more?

Scale the importance of those three questions and you'll work out your answer.

Personally, $2k is (to me) a fair price in the current market, and if you want to fix the dates and be certain of going, book. If you are prepared to risk missing the dates, and prepared to risk a higher price happening, wait.

I'm with docjames....

I booked some transpac travel a little while ago... then - of course - along came the Virgin and UA sale fares...

Not fussed for several reasons....

1. Have the exact dates I wanted locked in...

2. Am flying on my "usual" airline with all the benefits that entails...(and have UG's applied for...)

3. Am on the same flights as some folks I am spending part of the trip with...

So for me those questions were answered:

1. Badly need THOSE dates.

2. Yup.. fares were "normal"

3. :mad::mad::mad:

I'd wait.

If you hadn't noticed, there is a global recession going on.
