Just got an email with the following:

Bring your travel plans closer with 3,000 bonus Velocity Points
Dear (Jaian),

How would you like another 3,000 bonus Velocity Points?

To top up your Velocity Points balance you don't have to do anything out of the ordinary. Simply make five eligible purchases on your American Express® Velocity Platinum Card1. Buy your groceries, fill the tank, book a weekend away – the choice is yours. Just be sure to make your five purchases between 9th March and 30th April, 2016.

Seems like an easy 3k points for practically doing nothing.

I got this too. Not sure if it's targeted or for everyone. I think I've made 3 eligible purchases so far since the 9th...

Got it too. ...5 small purchases would be easy....don't use this card really and was planning to close it prior to its anniversary date.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

It is targeted. However they may well eventually send the email to everyone. Currently I have received it and my wife has not. Both with the Amex Velocity Card.

I got the email as well. Haven't used the card much but will definitely get the 5 purchases in. Hoping my wife receives an email as well.

Received, hard to turn this down.So whats the smallest transaction I could make (*5)?

Hasn't received the offer. :( so does it specify what the minimum purchase amount is for each purchase to count? Could you buy 5 $1 items? Hope I receive the email soon..

Does AusPost accept Amex these days to purchase stamps (assuming you still use stamps)?
Recharging card for or pre paying road tolls/paying mobile phone bills or recharges? (Surcharge of course for Amex can be quite high).
Or to fill the car with fuel at BP (assuming BP accepts Amex)? Could use the side swipe for more points, of course fuel at BP can be a bit pricier.
Something at Subway (assuming they accept Amex)?
At least its just the number of transactions that you need to make is just 5, and not 5 flights!

Come on, it is only 5 transactions needed here. There is no need to overthink it.

Quite possibly 1 cent each.

But as you would not know perhaps till too late (8-10 weeks) I personally will just put through over 5 smallish transactions, but not that small.

The 1 cent challenge should be a challenge in itself. I'm sure the 'value-seeking' types here at AFF can put their thinking hats on and come up with something to brag about. I know I'll be trying ;)

Indeed, for those not bothered its just an intellectual exercise. Yes, 5 *$5 transactions would yield a fairly similar no of points but some of us like the challenge.

I got the offer as well.

I haven't used this particular Amex in months.

Nice little deal for not doing too much.

Foreign currency transactions don't count. Makes things a bit more difficult if you're overseas during the promo!
