Is it just me or are there an awful lot of one off posters or first time posters using a blog to post rather than the forum? And by that I mean, posting something in a blog that really should be a forum post rather than a blog post.Is there something that can be done?

Examples :

How can QANTAS hide seats from Freq Flyer members and charge for them? - Blogs - The Australian Frequent Flyer Online Community

Can someone tell me what level WP is? - Blogs - The Australian Frequent Flyer Online Community

Yes, I'm aware of this problem. The ideal solution would be to only allow members with (say) 10 posts to create blog entries - unfortunately this is not a standard vBulletin feature.

We are investigating alternatives. Unfortunately there is no "easy fix".

Is it possible for a mod to convert a blog post to a forum post?

I sort of monitor the new blog posts and when I see someone asking a question in the wrong spot I generally welcome them to AFF and suggest a better place to “start a thread”.

I guess people don’t realise what a blog is, but why is it easier to create a blog post than a forum post? Seems like a lot of new members don’t even see the forums strangely!

Sam,

I'm willing to admit my ignorance on this so would appreciate a run down of 'What is a Blog :?:' if that is possible.

All I know is that a Blog is a weB log. Basically a journal type thing but on the web. I'd do a link to wikipedia but if on iPhone now.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

That’s the explanation I’ve always gone with too. Blog comes from Web Log and it’s as if you wrote a journal/diary but it was published online. It doesn’t have to be public, you can have them private, or to a limited readership, but quite often you write one so anyone can read it. In it you share your experiences and stuff like that… but you don’t really use it to ask questions, especially when there’s a perfectly good discussion forum located nearby ;)

From my Dictionary:

blog
noun
a Web site on which an individual or group of users produces an ongoing narrative : Most of his work colleagues were unaware of his blog until recently.

verb ( blogged, blogging) [ intrans. ]
add new material to or regularly update a blog.

DERIVATIVES
blogger noun

ORIGIN a shortening of weblog .
