I'm a WP planning a J trip SYD-BKK. SYD-BKK leg, QF 23 is works best for the time. For the BKK-SYD leg, I'm considering between the Emirates operated QF8418 and the Qantas operated QF24. The price is exactly the same. I assume lounge access/points and SC credit is identical for both flights, as long as they've a QF flight number. Is there a big difference between QF and EK in J service on this route? I've tried QF 24 several times before - don't have a major complaint, though I have good memories of Emirates from travels 5-6 years ago and I can imagine them having a better product. Is it worth to switch to EK product to check it out? Any tips/suggestions most welcome :)

EK provides a chauffer service but not QF for your route...

Thanks! Yes, I had thought about that, but I'm pretty close to the train in Bangkok and detest Bangkok traffic with a passion (especially the afternoon rush hour gridlock!) so I was planning to take the airport express anyway - hence didn't consider it too much as a factor. Any major differences in in-flight service?

You would probably get a lie flat (EK) rather than angled flat bed on QF.

I suspect the EK option will be better service and better equipment, but you will miss out on the BA (ex QF) lounge.

Now let me see A330 angled seat and no bar or 777 lay flat seat and sit down bar................ No Brainer to me

Think that will only be if its an EK flight number.
With a QF flight number QF policy will apply

But would you if it is a QF marketed flight?

OneWorld privileges only apply to OW operated and marketed flights, same reason F lounge access was denied when QF partnered with Etihad and you were travelling as a OWE on the QF code some time back. I don't think BA need much of a reason to say no these days ;).

Thanks to all for replies. It looks like the key differences are:
* EK operated flight "may" be more comfortable with a B777, possibly a lie-flat bed. And better service.
* QF operated flight will allow access to BA lounge in BKK - is the BA lounge much better than the QF lounge in BKK? I tried the QF lounge before, it was adequate, though I would've liked the food offering to be more substantial.

The BA lounge is the old F lounge. I think the EK cabin will leave Skybed Mk1 for dead regardless.

EK has angled lie flat to BKK in a 2 3 2 configuration, haven't tried them yet so can't comment on how comfortable they are but will in a couple of months time from FRA to DXB (EK has some very strange seating going round, colleague was booked on EK from MEL to DXB via KUL and had recliner seats... She was not impressed)
