Ahead of whatever announcements are made, just wanted to say to all Qantas staff that I wish you well, especially those on AFF who contribute massively to the collective knowledge here. Qantas as we all know recently ran a campaign - " Your the reason we fly ". In downturns, smart managers know the value in staff and actively try to retain them as an investment for better times.

As a customer, I can say Qantas staff are the reason I fly Qantas.

Here, Here!

Best wishes to everyone at Qantas. Hopefully there are not too many cutbacks to staff.

Best of luck, especially Red Roo, your contribution on here is very valued by us all. Hoping for the best.

Did same last night when Qantas friends called by, we had a good chat about what may happen today, they were rather concerned.

All the very best to those hard working QF people whoever you are.

I agree.....to my closest friend, my brother, and many people I know who work for Qantas.....I'm thinking of you, and hope your job, and the future of Qantas stays strong.

TQ

Thanks everyone - it is nice to know that the people who are part of the QF family on this board are well received on this board. I must admit to hear the support from our passengers is a little moral booster, given the axe has been hanging over our heads for a while now.

Indeed, best wishes and good luck. QF staff are one of the main reasons I try to fly QF as well.

One thing about Qantas, the minute you enter the plane from LHR, LAX etc, you feel like you are home, I have spoken to many other nationalities about this feeling, few say that they have the same feeling about their national carrier (s)

+1 here... The staff of QF are easily the best in the world. They (99.8% of the time) make it an absolute pleasure to fly with QF and in my own personal experience they have always gone above and beyond on a regular basis.

The competition just doesn't compare. I hope that those unfortunate enough to get the chop find an alternative quickly and this is merely a speed bump in your lives.

I agree all the best to QF staff. Sadly the people at the coalface, the face of the airline, are first in the firing line when management needs to fix its mistakes.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

While I generally credit my flights to AAdvantage, its the QF front-line staff that are the reason I fly QF-operated flights whenever I they are available to me. While its obvious to everyone that some things have to change, I sincerely hope the QF staff are looked after in the process.

Couldn't agree more! Let's also remember that the staff we deal with on a day-to-day basis also have no say in the decisions that are made at the top, they deserve full respect and appreciation no matter what happens.

I echo the thoughts and best wishes expressed in this thread.
I fly Qantas because of the staff and the service they provide, and also very much enjoy getting on a flight home in a foreign country and feeling that I am already home when approached by the friendly crew (and the glass of champagne) :)

As someone who has been through mass retrenchments I can say that the waiting is the hardest part.

Sometimes it is easier to be retrenched than remain and try to cope doing more work with less colleagues.

However it works out for you take a deep breath, plan your future (even if staying) and move forward.

Talk to friends/colleagues and get through the tough times. Speak to a professional if required.

Regardless of what your current situation is you will survive.
