Hi all,

What is the best way to book a multi city trip departing from Sydney and ending in Sydney?

I will have a paid return airfare(work) to Hong Kong but i want to also squeeze in a few days in Vietnam.

Am i better of booking my own return flights from Hong Kong to Vietnam and then just using the return leg from Hong Kong back to SYD?

Or getting work to book Syd-HK-HCM-SYD?

When i tried the Multi city function on webjet it seemed very expensive.

Any help Greatly appreciated.

This will be the easiest if your SYD-HKG-SYD flights are already booked. Are they? And if so, who with?

You could fly VN SYD-SGN-HKG-SGN-SYD with a stopover in SGN, but given the quality of airlines that service HKG direct from Australia, would you want to?

A multi-city with any airline/s other than VN will involve a connection between SGN-SYD, so it might as well be HKG if you're already booked.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

The tickets aren't booked ATM but SYD-HK-SYD is the standard booking.

I would want to try and keep the flights on airlines that will still give me SC on my VFF.

I hope this makes sense but i believe my 2 options are 1) Fly Syd-HK-SYD from the 1st -15th and find flights in between to SGN or
2) Fly SYD-HK-SGN-Singapore-SYD
Just looking if anyone has done something similiar

OK - the desire for crediting to VA makes it easy because SQ is your only option.

1) Fly Syd-HKG-SYD from the 1st -15th and find flights in between to SGN

Unless you fly SQ SYD-SIN-HKG-SIN-SYD, this route will earn 0 SC on VA. HKG-SGN will also earn 0 SC on VA flying CX or VN. A variation of this as I mention below is your best bet IMO.

2) Fly SYD-HK-SGN-Singapore-SYD

It's not possible to do this on any 1 airline or even 1 alliance. You could fly CX SYD-HKG-SGN and then SQ SGN-SIN-SYD on separate tickets. CX can credit to QF or elsewhere, SQ to VA.

The max VA SC will be achieved by flying:

SYD-SIN-HKG; SGN-SIN-SYD on SQ as a multi-city or 2 x one-way tickets.

You will have to book a separate one-way ticket HKG-SGN on CX or VN.

If you need to credit to Velocity - that means singapore airlines? So take a 'stopover' in SIN on your return, and buy a round-trip SIN-SGN-SIN.

I had a very quick search on ITA Matrix without knowing your travel dates. This QF option (ignoring the VA SC requirements) looks pretty simple. Having it all on the one tix mens that you can get it all paid through work without having to pay for the side trip yourself. It's just what worked for you on the dates you needed.

I realise this doesn't really answer your question, but... if you're looking for cheap flights, I'd stay away from webjet.

It looks like it can be done all on SQ if you do something like:

SYD-SIN-HK, HK-SIN, SIN-SYD - all on a multi city itinerary (direct on SQ's website)
SIN-SGN (return) (direct on SQ's website)

It's a bit of backtracking, but should give you SC's on all flights (just check the booking class though). It won't give you the eligible sectors on VA though.

If you book via SQ directly, just need to put your VA FF number into the booking.
