Dear AFFers,

In September this year my partner and I are starting a big trip overland from SE Asia - London over about 5mths. And I realise that 'overland' is probably a dirty word on here!

So after doing the trans Mongolian/Siberian etc we are looking to get home to Perth from LHR. We have already booked J rewards seats on VA from sydney to coughet via Perth to start off the trip as we are currently based in Sydney.

I have 184,000 QF points and was looking at us both flying on BA11 LHR to Singapore in J - then jumping on a cheap scoot-biz flight to Perth.

We had a great flight recently on a scoot 777 from Tianjin to singapore in Scoot Biz, 1990s style angled lie (almost) flat seats and at 175cm I couldn't touch the seat in front with my feet.

Is this the best way to use my 184000 QF points to get us both back in J? Or would a different route give us more bang for our buck. We could also leave from anywhere in the UK or nearby countries, and may be able to get hold of a few more points.

Cheers,
Cleaver

I would have thought CDG-DXB-PER would be better, there is good availability with QR online at 120K per person in J, you would need to scrape up some more points though!

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Cheers guys, I hadn't pondered the higher taxes.

I notice there are some rewards flights around on EK earlier in the year in J, but they don't seem to have been released for Jan 2015 as yet. Do you think it is worth waiting to try and jag a EK CDG-DXB-PER in J - or is the Qatar J product CDG-DOH-PER in J going to be of a similar calibre? I have had a pretty thorough Google, and can't quite see which would be the better choice, beyond QR costing a few more points....

Congrats on the 25K mark Markis

I have not flown QR but have done EK and EY, I suspect the middle east airlines set a high bar in J, so grabbing either option would be worth it.

I'd probably prefer EK over QR as you'd get the proper lounges, not stupid SkyTeam and partner stuff.

Huh? QR has proper lounges in many ports (LHR, DOH) for J and F passengers (Skyteam is only for Y passengers with status)
