We have been long time users of the AMEX/QFF pogram. AMEX have recently bombarded us with info stating that QFF will shortly no longer accept AMEX points in their reward program. They have advised that a large number of other airline programs will participate. It appears that all programs place a similar value on points, so which one do I choose that offers the best value. I have about 200,000 points saved in AMEX and need to choose an airline program.
My needs are to go to say Rome or Paris from Melbourne as direct as possible, with possibility of seat upgrade to business. The frustration with QFF is actually getting a rewards seat with short notice. Do other programs offer seats based on limited reward seating or do some programs offer seats without restrictions. It is all very well joining another program but how does one check if seat availability will be there.
Thanking you.

It sounds like your best bet would be SQ Kris Flyer which transfers from Amex at 1:1 and TG Royal Orchid Plus which transfers from Amex at 4:3. Both of these are decent frequent flyer programs which should get you to Europe with one transit only in either SIN or BKK.

Look at the various websites and study the frequent flyer programmes in a little more detail. Do not move the points from Amex into any frequent flyer program unless you are ready to use the points.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

If this is a one off thing then you might want to consider availability rather than just price. There is no point putting points into the best value program if you can not get any seats. I believe also that Virgin Atlantic transfers at 1:1 now so that might be a consideration.

I have been thinking of joining the Virgin Alantic FF program.
Have browse through it but will appreciate if any members of that program can shed some light on the pros and cons of program. Ease of availability of getting award seats especially in Upper Class?
Will it be linked with V Australia 's FF program now or in future?

Thanks.
