Best option for getting Star Alliance status match from VA Gold

I am VA Gold. I have a number of flights scheduled this year including Thai return to Europe from Australia in J and a number of SAS/Lufthansa Y flights. Which is my best bet in obtaining a status match to a Star Alliance program so I can enjoy the benefits while on the Y flights?

I think the only Star Alliance program that will match to VA Gold is United?

You get 90 days of status (unless you complete their challenge by flying a certain amount on United), so best to only request this a few weeks before you're due to take the first flights.
