Hi All,

I'm wondering what Apps people have found the best for using as offline GPS on iPhone in both England and Scotland? We will be borrowing a car from a friend and won't have an inbuilt GPS so was just planning on using my old iPhone 4s as the navigation unit.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks
Matt

I think you can download data for offline viewing in Google Maps, but not sure, and you'd need wifi at the start of the journey anyway.

The tom tom app worked great for us, although it's one of the pricier options

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

I use CityMaps2Go quite a bit. Download all the maps I want for local use. But it does not give driving instructions like a TomTom etc. Just shows the maps.

Thanks for that I will use next time in Europe. I see they have apps for different countries and Eastern Europe. Is in app purchase mandatory overtime?

No it's not - they only sell add-on packs such as speed cameras but you don't need to download them if you don't want them...

I attempted to use Navfree in the US and I've just downloaded the Oz and NZ version as I'm going to NZ in a week. As I recalled from the US version (long since deleted), it's woefully inadequate/incomplete! I couldn't find numerous places in Oz (including my place in inner Melb!) or NZ that I tried. Now deleted. Don't waste your time.
