Hi everyone,

It is my birthday coming up and it would be good to treat my myself to a night away in a Melbourne five star hotel. I love the club lounges a great treat. I have tried, crown towers, Hilton Sw, and also Sofitel.

Sofitel is great for drinks as they have help yourself spirits, but last time I was there they must be cutting back.. They were so tight, they had someone cutting the cheese, but a great breakfast.

Hilton Sw has a great breakfast as you can take breakfast down stairs, which is great, but drinks suck, just wine and beer no spirits.

crown was just so so, nothing special at all.

really looking for good drinks and spirits... And good breakfast...

any body got good ideas of where to go or any up to date reports of what is happening in the club lounge world.. Thanks for your help

HSW Exec lounge does have spirits. You just have to ask :!:

Sofitel has stopped the 'self serve' spirits as of late June. I happened to stay the first night it was introduced. All the spirits are behind one of the counters and a staff member serves the spirits. The wine / beer is still in the fridge and can be self served. I have certainly noticed that the Sofitel is cutting back - the selection of food gets smaller every time I stay.
Last time I stayed at Grand Hyatt the drinks including spirits were self serve, however their range of spirits was not as extensive or as top shelf as Sofitel. Breakfast at GH is continental, not as good as Sofitel.

I was there last weekend and they have put a stop to this as well.

There is now a sign in front of the beer section of the fridge asking people to get beers from the person tending bar. I don't think the fridge was locked, so I suppose you could get one but it's being discouraged and everyone I saw was paying attention.

I've only got experience of the Sofitel and Langham Club lounges. I think the Langham does food and beverages much better than the Sofitel, however, the Sofitel Club lounge is more spacious and has better seating options.

Whatever you decide, have a great Birthday trip, spikeyboy22!

Another lover of The Langham club.
Really nice assortment of canapés, lovely intimate lounge with lots of little window seat pairs. The breakfast there is also very good.

+1 for The Langham lounge. Food is alright for a club lounge and the drinks are pretty good too.

Haven't been for a while but I quite like the Grand Hyatt lounge.

What about the intercon on Collins?? My last stay there was a few years ago for a few months so did get to know the staff well. Very welcoming place and then was quite extensive.

Intercontinental club in Melb would have to be the worst I have used over the years. Poor food selection, slow wifi, small, dark with no views and very slow drink service. I quite like the hotel, but would not pay a additional fee again for club access.

+1, was there start of this month and agree in total

It may be a little out of the way but the Pullman Melbourne Albert Park has a great new exec lounge. They have a special at the moment with 3 nights for the price of 2 so it works out at about $150 a night. Accor Platinums get access regardless of room category too. Nice breakfast included and 5.30-7.30pm drinks and canapes (wine and beer, no spirits)
