We are about to use QFF points to book business class seats on Cathay Pacific to Spain via HK. With the herringbone layout of J class, I am interested which seats others select when travelling as a couple?
Do you select the two middle seats or two window seats in the same row?

The middle seats seem logical but have read that you can actually see each other.

Any suggestions?

For CX herringbone I always select two windows, one behind the other, mid cabin.

The centre seats can be moved fully forward to catch a glimpse of each other but it's not ideal and not that comfortable. There are no other advantages of the centre seats - you're in the middle, subject to whim of those at the windows wanting their shades up (or down), and less sense of space or privacy. The window seats by contrast give you control over the windows. Selecting seats centre cabin (unless on the 77H where you should select the forward cabin) keep you away from galley and WC traffic.

Have recently had 4 sectors with Cathay business class and find that we very much prefer the single seats behind each either in the mini cabin or in the first section to be the best....you can see each other comfortably from the middle section and agree with the previous comments entirely...Also there is ample storage space and room with the single seats...for us its a no brainer and we have another Cathay J sector coming up in September with seats 12A and 14A ( no 13A !! )

I like the middle seats, for the main season that we can pass stuff to each other easily. Sure, you can't really talk easily (difficult regardless of the seat) but the little convenience of being able to pass a few things back and forth is nice. And, if you have really bad turbulence, you can at least hold hands.
