I've been shopping around for some new belts (regular use) and had a thought, there surely are airport security ok belts that we don't have to take off.

Just wondering if anyone has any brands or designs that they use for travel.

I wear Mountain Design trousers that have a "sown in" belt and haven't had any hassles-the buckles are plastic. I like the material because of the stretch in the models I have

I came across a really good belt, with an internal zipped pocket for carrying currency (although folded a lot). It has a plastic faster on a webbing belt, and works extremely well. My waist does expand and contract a bit these days, and it's nice to have exact adjustments instead of holes.

It has never set off the metal detection, although the zip is metal. Even on body scanners they don't ask to look at it. I wear my shirt over my trousers, so they can't normally see it.

It's not particularly elegant, but does a perfectly fine job. I also like being able to carry concealed currency (or anything else at other times than travelling, tbh).

I got it from Amazon, but unfortunately I no longer use that account for silly reasons of Amazon and kindle, so I can't easily find a name or description, sorry.

I've got a few different webbbing belts with plastic buckles.

You can buy the webbing and the buckles at Bunnings.

I still occasionally get asked to take the belt off (about 1 in every 10 flights)

The problem is with the new body scanners, they don't care whether the buckle is metal or plastic. A lot of airports now want the belt off before going through. If it stays on they tend to want to see what's behind the buckle after you go through the body scanner.

I've repurposed the belt from my hiking pants for travels. Plastic buckle and infinite adjustments (until you run out of the strap). Most times it goes through the security check OK but sometimes even that needs to be removed before the body scanning.

Yes, if there is a choice I always chose the lane with the metal detector!

I've also seen some easily removed buckles but not sure how the longevity of those are.
