Hi all,

About to book a trip to Delhi in Feb for my wife and I, but before I do, I just want to make sure I've covered all options and figured the brainstrust would know! :)

Basic requirements are:
- OneWorld for at least the majority of the trip
- Ideally one ticket (though flexible if financially worthwhile)
- Preferably as direct as possible (this isn't a status run unfortunately)
- Economy

As I see it, my options are:
- CX SYD-HKG-DEL-HKG-SYD for ~$1,230
- MH SYD-KUL-DEL-KUL-SYD for ~$1,280
- QF SYD-SIN-SYD (via our Brazilian friends) for $570, but then all the SIN-DEL-SIN options I've looked at (Jet Airways or MH via KUL) work out to bring the total to about $1,200 anyway

The cheapest does seem to be QF SYD-SIN-SYD and MH SIN-KUL-DEL-KUL-SIN but for the sake of $100 or so, I'm not going through the hassle of multiple tickets, airlines and poor connection times. We're only there for 5 days.

Before I book CX (which has pretty good connection times, although I'd need to choose between 1hr and 5hrs in HKG*)...anything else I should consider?

Many thanks in advance.

Cheers,
- Febs.

* Given we haven't visited the new lounges yet, we'd be taking the latter. ;)

If you book it all via QF.br what does it cost out as?

qf.com costs at ~$1800.....

If you're talking the new QF lounges in HKG I wouldn't bother and just go for the short connection.

GIven it's discount Econ and it's a short trip, i'd just go the shortest / easiest transit.

I'm a bit of a noob here, but I am also interested in a similar flight for my family (wife, 1yr old and myself) from PER to DEL.

What would be the best option here? I have limited QFF points and will have to pay a fair amount from my own pocket. Looking to go around Jan/Feb 2014.

I want to travel to Delhi with my other half either in December/January. Prefer to fly in J and use points.

I have points with Amex MR, QF, VA, MH, CX, SQ and US Airways.

I know with MH it is about 47k one way if booked online. Similar with SQ I believe.

I’m wanting to travel either from SYD or DRW (for some reason MH won’t allow me to search DRW-DEL).

Can anyone tell me what is the best use of points. I wouldn't mind booking 1 leg with points and the return with cash.

Buy one way to del. cx j del-syd can be had for ~$1100.

Ooh, now that is very tempting...although unfortunately a one-way SYD-DEL in CX discount Y costs about $20 less than return (i.e. still ~$1,200). Though maybe MH there, CX J back could be an option...thankyou! :)

$1,410 or thereabouts via expedia BR. QF SYD-HKG and CX HKG-DEL (return).

TBH at those prices I'd go for whichever timings suited or preferred carrier with the simplest routing.

So CX or QF depending preferences on each product.

I dont think you're missing anything (other than to consider non-OW carriers eg. SQ).

Edit: The only other thing I could think of was to find a killer deal to eg. DXB/AUH/DOH then into DEL from there. So EK or QF sale into DXB connecting from there but i highly doubt you'll find that under $1250!

Doe QR serve DEL? They may also have good fares (but not OW yet).

Yeah, I agree, just wanted to see if there was anything else I'd missed...and of course there were! Some great suggestions in here, thanks all. :) That's why I love this forum.

Almost criminal (though not unexpected) that SYD-DEL in discount Y basically costs the same as DEL-SYD in J!

Oh and re: your earlier question about HKG Lounges - no I meant the refurb'd CX F lounges. Haven't been to HKG for about 18 months.

Cheers

Welcome to AFF.

I think some of the answers here may have already helped but if you want to stick to oneworld, then QF to SIN or CX to HKG are probably the best options from PER.

If you think outside Oneworld, then there'd be quite a few more including SQ via SIN, MH via KUL, TG via BKK (whcih seems to be the shortest).

All are pricing around the $1100-$1300 mark for Jan/Feb travel.

Have used CX twice for MEL-DEL-MEL flights in the last 12 months and will do so again next week. The ~5 hour layover in HKG is nice, enough time try out a couple of lounges and CX Y is a good product (with the new Y seats).
