Bankwest Transaction account [General Discussion]

Any ideas on how to utilize the excess credit on your Telstra account? Seems a waste to have it sit there.

Rather than thinking of it as 'waste', I think of the whole thing as the cost of purchasing the points. The free monthly mobile plan from Telstra is the icing on the cake. It is not a bad deal at all, is it now?

New Foxtel from Telstra service or upgrade your Foxtel from Telstra service, home internet, mobile internet, home plan and/or mobile plan. I'm sure there's other services that I haven't thought of.

Or new mobile handset, new internet router, new Telstra TV box, new tablet and/or new home phone. Again I'm sure there's other products too.

Check out their online shop. There might be a service or product that's suits/interests you.

You might be able to use it for google play credit or something if it's a mobile account? If it's your home phone how are you getting excess credit with $15/mo from 1c transactions?

More than 1 card perhaps.

There is a home phone account that's $15.95 per month called Telstra Voice Light.

Just checking regarding the 50 transaction per day limit. Is that 50 in total per day per Bankwest card? Or is it 50 to each individual payee?
ie can I pay 50 x 0.01 to Telstra and then 50 to another payee?

Also, do Telstra themselves have a maximum number of transactions? Can I pay 50 using my card and then another 50 using my wife's (soon to arrive) Bankwest Qantas card?

Telstra does not appear to have a limit. Yes, you can do what you have planned.

12am isnt 12am.

Perth time = 2 hrs behind EST.

A new day starts at 2am syd/brus/melb.time, unless daylight savings = 3hrs difference.

Thanks but I know that and it wasn't the problem. I hadn't made any payments yesterday at all. For many hours the message was about couldn't access payment system. It seems Telstra's payment system was down for some hours. Working this morning however.

So if you get a message that says can't access the payment system then it's probably a Telstra problem so keep trying.
If you get the message "Unfortunately an unexpected error has occurred in our systems and we can't process your payment at this time. Please try again later." It's probably because you have done the 50 payments on your card for that day. If so try again after 12am Perth time.

Telstra were doing some kind of online maintenance yesterday afternoon. I tried a few times to log into their app and got a message to that effect. Seems fine again this morning - no problems with the iOS app or making payments.

Why would there be a problem if you have already done 50 payments? I doubt the card will stop working after 50 payments in a day, it just won't give you any bonus QFF points for the 51st+ transactions.

No it stops working. I first experienced this when I tried to use the card at a service station and it was declined. I then realised I had made 50 payments elsewhere earlier in the day. As far as I am aware the 50 payments per day limit on use of each card is a BW restriction. Happy to hear if others have found this not to be so.

My card arrived finally. Is anyone saving their card details in 'My Account' to make the payments or just entering the details and hitting refresh? I tried hitting refresh but it just loads the same receipt number and only one charge has reached bankwest.

EDIT: Nevermind, seems to be working.

Hi,

When are points issued? I recently opened an account and have received 3 statements so far and they all have 0 points on them.

Each of the three statements have been issued about a week apart. I guess because doing 50-100 transactions per day makes the statement issue earlier than normal?

But now that I have received three statements with 0 points I am getting a bit worried?

This has been answered over and over on this thread.

Yes the statements are triggered after a certain number of transactions I think, so will be issued more frequently.
I believe the points are actually issued at the start of each month. It's done on a monthly basis, not a statement basis. Someone please correct me if this is not quite right.

Just noticed energy australia have their 'my accounts', and their payment gateway, down for maintenance from 6pm until 1am tomorrow... I hope they aren't doing anything too drastic...
