Bankwest Transaction account [General Discussion]

Showing on the latest statement just recieved. Wont go to QFF acc untill atleast Monday (5th = Sunday).

Hopefully it shows on Monday as my E-statement for 31st May did not show any points earned. Also applied for a secondary card without a hitch as well.

My family relatives have not noticed any cracking down in recent months.
First card online. All have applied for second card in branch.

I just walk into a branch and ask for an upgrade to the Qantas platinum debit card. If they ask you why just say that you like having security protection when purchasing online and that's it. Make sure to mentioned that you would like the card to be your secondary card so when it arrives you can use both. Hopefully that helps.

Points will show on the first statement of each month which is why you saw nothing on the statement for 31st. They will show up on the next statement issued.

I would love to know what they see regarding your account when they upgrade/downgrade in branch. Do they see that you already have multiple active cards or do they simply see what product you hold (ie BW platinum debit master card)? I currently have 4 active cards on the one account and would love to downgrade to the standard card again to make it 5 but it's a big risk if they see the already active cards and cancel them at the same time.

lol wow that is incredible. Nice one.

And each time you did the upgrade/downgrade what did you say or do to get it to go through??

The upgrades are easy - you just say you want to upgrade to the platinum version of the card and it's no questions asked. The downgrade I said something like I had just bought a house and could no longer afford to deposit $4k per month.

I'd love to downgrade again but it's a big potential loss of points of they did happen to see the active cards and cancel them all.

They can see if they go and look at your cards.

But for branch staff going from normal -> plat is a sale so helps them meet KPIs so they don't care. They might just submit the request though without checking cards. BW have quite old systems like most banks.

If you've got one card and upgrading to platinum and you are worried they'll cancel your original just wait ages, 2-3 weeks or so before activating it. This doesn't apply to you of course, I'm not sure I'd risk another card. I won't even risk 3 but then I've got 3 accounts all with 2 cards (so 6 cards) plus my partner has an account with 2 cards so we rake in the points now. I'm considering trying to score a second account for my partner but it is risky.

Slightly off topic but as far as i'm aware Bankwest was included in the mix when CBA upgraded its core banking platform to SAP ($1.3bn project), Bankwest would have some of the most modern core banking (& reporting!) systems in Australia.

Would it be possible to order a platinum card then go into the store and reorder another one because the first one never arrived. Then activate both when they arrive?

I hate to mention it, but there will be a final straw one day.

A family member was recently refused an upgrade to platinum in branch as they could see there was already a platinum card on the account. This was going for the 3rd card. I've managed to get a third card on my account though. So it seems they can defnitely see it, may depend on how vigilant the person working is.

But if you haven't activated the platinum card how would they know you have one? You can easily go you haven't received it.
